Today's pick: Carolina Leadership Coalition, campaigning against Ray Russell. I don't know anything much about Ray Russell's platform - and I don't know anything about the candidate that Carolina Leadership Coalition presumably supports, either. And I'm not going to learn anything from the nonsense that this anonymous group, apparently founded by Steven B Long, is spewing.
Their glossy false-and/or-misleading flyer is designed to bait and trigger antipathy with hot-button issues.
Taxpayer funded abortions. Free healthcare for everyone - including illegal immigrants! Gender justice. Ray Russell's nutty protest agenda is wrong for North Carolina.
In tiny letters at the bottom there are references to Russell's Facebook page showing links to Moral Monday etc. LOL. Definitely does not pass the smell test for actually demonstrating Russell's platform.
I'm pretty conservative. The current administration is the least truly conservative admin I've ever seen, and the most fiscally irresponsible. Just on healthcare alone - never mind taxation - its support for paying at least double for healthcare is simply crazy. Rates in North Carolina are especially bad because of its refusal to expand Medicaid. Catastrophically high rates are bad for entreprenuers and individuals - who, even if insured by their companies, earn less because their companies pay out so much in benefits. Current US and NC leadership is not addressing this very serious issue. And while I haven't read Russell's stance on this yet, I feel very sure that he is aware that no healthcare is free and that we here in the US pay more than double.
As a conservative, I would like to read honest, transparent statements from all candidates about what they're FOR - or, to a lesser extent, against. I do not want to read bogus, unfounded statements intended to trigger aversion from opaque PACs or trolls.
I would like Carolina Leadership Coalition to stop negative campaigning, and start embracing transparency, honesty, and a positive influence. THAT is what is RIGHT for North Carolina.
