I consistently submitted and was paid weekly invoices for my services. On the final week of my engagement, I submitted my last invoice in the same format and structure as previous weeks. This invoice for $400 was acknowledged but ultimately refused without legal justification.
To be clear, this is not a dispute over deliverables. My work included:
??? Handling outbound calls
??? Candidate screening and booking interviews
??? Taking on additional workload after team downsizing
I was terminated without any mention of performance-related cause, I was simply told I was ???no longer a good fit.??? However, when I requested payment for the final week (as was standard), Vertigo denied it and retroactively cited performance issues that were never formally documented during my engagement or in my termination notice.
What makes this case especially concerning is that other team members, who were also terminated, were paid an additional full week post-termination, despite doing no work during that week. I have documented proof (including direct messages) showing that these peers were informed they would be paid as a courtesy, creating a clear precedent.
Despite this, I was denied the same treatment and subsequently met with legal threats and personal intimidation when I raised the concern.
