Cynthia N. says: Horace Mann Insurance refused to enforce the disability policy. Horace Mann did not consider all information said verbally via telephone and submitted in writing. It carved out specific information from doctors' progress notes and used it to deny claims. Horace Mann asserted that the information was subjective that the client reported and some doctor's information based on observations. The claims representative and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Horace Mann treated the client like she feigned an illness with the support of one of the doctors. The LPN and claims representative from Horace Mann evaluated information provided by the client and three doctors. The LPN and claims representative do not have a medical license. Who are they to go against one of the medical doctor 's and indicate that everything the primary care doctor observed and said was subjective. Because of this doctor's impressions and report, this was used to deny my benefits even though the doctor referred me to specialists. Three doctors reported. The client submitted sufficient medical evidence to substantiate that an illness existed. As well, the client was put on medication by a specialist and medical leave from work to help treat the medical condition.
Be aware teachers of Horace Mann Insurance for Teachers. The lesson is Horace Mann is a fraud and refuses to pay up.
