Claimant says: "I am Sara Karwowski, I make under 25,000 a year and I work hard over 60 hours a week to pay as I go for all my education.
Unfortunately in May 2016 I was in need of a student loan. I always prepare for any type of meeting that could financially help my education further. I always try to read user agreements and fine print. Before I walk into my bank or any financial aid officer at school; I want to know my credit score. I want to have all information printed and studied over with my credit score, documents provided proof of my income etc.
I was on-line and I found a website called www.scoresense.com claiming free trial to check your credit score a fine small print said but free trial ends if not canceled in a period of seven days.
I could look at my credit score, before i would be enrolled automatically and it would cost a monthly fee (which was not stated on the site of the amount but i know now it is $39.95 monthly).
I tried the free trial may 7, 2016 within one day, i got my score had what info necessary. I proceeded to cancel the free trial.
I canceled online in the alloted time of 7 days by following the cancel membership area online on the company's website scoresense.com.
This website you would pay a dollar for the first 7 days and after if the free trial membership was not free and had to be canceled within the seven day alloted time or no matter what you then would be enrolled automatically monthly a subscription service.
I did canceI online in the alloted time of 7 days required by scoresense.com. So i thought okay its all fine, i have cancelled.
No way.
Not at all!
I sat down on my online banking application to do some budgeting, I notice a recurring $ 39.95 charge for 7 months now.
I am usually very, very meticulous about user agreements and I am one who will read the fine print.
NO where in May 13, 2016 did i see in the scoresense.com website cancel membership page and menu online did I see or read
Any of rhe following cannot cancel online, only through calling a 1800 number
Very bad buisness practice, to allow you free enrollment, able to sign up online, but to cancel i have to call?
The call centers are open for small amount of time amd busy all day. Any time I attempt to call and get through to an an employee and would get a message the business hours are closed or waiting forever on hold.
At the time i worked 6 nights a week over 60 hours and went to school. THE HOURS of operation the call center was open, would be impossible for me with school, work, and other family issues (4 brothers to help with homework) to get through on the phone to cancel.
The bad business practice of charging such a high rate $39.95 when's there are other sites that are free? That amount is crazy for a credit scores monthly.
Credit scores are not changed so drastically that fast with anyone would need service.
a total of $279.85 has been taken out for this horrible excuse for a buisness. Even at a community college, a student can sign up online take a class, can drop online within 7 days and get a full refund of the class fee. If the student thought isn't what they need or thought it would be different, i cancelled online and never logged in since or used this website any other than to cancel.
I call my bank after failed attempts to reach scoresense.com the phone.
Finally, i have my bank representatives call with me on the line and a Scoresense.com representative assures me that I'll have my refund that I cannot cancel online that there is a disclaimer saying you have to call a number to cancel within 7 days. Well in May 7, 2016 ; I saw no such disclaimer. Perhaps now that it is jan2017 they have changed the layout of the site and or completely made a new one to cover there horrible excuse for a buisness.
Bad business for a company to charge $40 for a credit score when there are other companies that are free.
I think that's criminal that should not be an operating business.
i never used them after that one day may 7, 2013 to check my credit score and cancelled in the allotted time and they say that I didn't cancel the allotted time and now I'm out 280.85.
Finally I had a bank representative of Bank of America call with me the company.
we got through and the representative told me that a refund would be within 1 to 2 business days and that she effectively closed my account and so I go to look at my refund and she only refunded me $1 plus $ 39.95 for December only. Why only December, I never logged on to use the tools or whatever it is this compamy does but once may 7th, 2016.
I am still out 6 months membership fees. I'm still out about $230.00 for a credit score service that tricked me into thinking this was free and easy to cancel.
I have proof of all the charges ScoreSense.com charged me I have a recorded audio between my bank representative (BANK of america) myself, and a scoresense.com phone representative saying they would refund my money.
I have proof of me trying to cancel online.
I even printed a screenshot of me canceling online.
I have proof of me calling their number trying to cancel and never getting through.
This a complete scam.
The BBB should shut them down or create a law suit to refund people
Especially consumers, ones that make less than $25.000 a year.
