Claimant says: "Claim edited 8/1/17 to include claim 1504803 plus update
Grounds for this matter:
1.) Hughs Net assured me if I 'bundled' I would pay $29.29 plus tax for each service internet, TV, and phone. They couldn't tell me tax because each state is different. (I missed red flag)
2.) I asked if I should ask any question that I'm unaware of? No. At that time I was unaware Hughs net does not supply cable or satelite TV. At the instillation I was informed TV was a different company and bill. When I got that bill it was $69.78 far above the $29.95 plus tax price quoted.&
3.) After having Hughs Net about two weeks the end of April, 2017 I called to find out what the bill would be. The bill had not been generated yet and I could not get that information. (I missed another red flag.)
4.) I called numerous times to complain that WIFI/ u-tube kept stopping and took seemingly forever to reload?/ stream? Each complaint was followed by a survey within a day or two to my e-mail as to if and was my complaint resolved. Each time my responce was very disatisfied and still u-tube was not fixed. The dates are....24 April, 28 April, 18 May, 19 May, 23 May, 24 May, 25 May, and 1 June. The last time I had to say, Look, I am not stupid! Stop repeating over and over I have to be close to the router when I have told you over and over that I am less than three feet from it and u-tube still is not working. FIX IT!
5.) The very worst may have put my life in danger. The phone number I was assigned from Hushs Net was for Lewiston, Maine which is about an hour from my home in Searsport. If I would have had to call 911 unable to speak....I have no adjective to describe my feelings.
6.) Hughs Net me failed on so many levels and would not uphold their end of the promise of good service. Now they want $621.09 for canceling.
7.) Now Direct TV wants about $400.00 for early cancelation.
claim # 1504803 explains the many ways hughs net failed. Since filing this complaint on 27 June, 2017 they have sent a bill for over $600.00 for early termination of their contract. And because of Direct TV's connection to hughs net I had cancelled them also. Direct TV has asked for $450 for early termination. So now I must include these amounts in the amount I am seeking. Should I add a monetary value to the frustration I suffered from them violating the contract from the very start by not giving me good service as promised, being treated rudely, and by assigning me a phone number an hour out of my 911 area? Seeking $1484.97
07-02-2017 - Because of my rush to get Hughs Net equipment out of my home I mistakenly put three items in the box to Hughs net which belong to Direct TV. Item number: SKU C62-100 all serial #s begin with: A61LB6TE100 794, 877, 650. On 30, June I called Hughs net to inform them of my mistake. Direct TV had requested that I ask Hughs net to forward those items to Direct TV. 1) I was told they could not contact the ware house. 2) Warehouse will scan them and shelve them. 3) After I asked them to find a way to forward above information to whomever so they can be returned to me or forwarded to Direct TV, they hung up on me? got disconnected? 4) So I called informed them this is my second call about this issue, repeated everything only to be informed testily, 'Well, we just don't do that.' 5) I was instructed to call UPS give them the tracking number, 1Z7AF388033310619, when empty box was sent to me and with that UPS can trace the return to Hughs Net tracking number. 6) UPS was very understanding and tried for half an hour but found only that the box was delivered to me on 22 June, and no way to find the return tracking number. I had taken that box to Robs True Value Hardware in Belfast, Maine on 27 June 2017.

Update: 27 July, 2017
Letter dated 17 July from hughsnet is full of 'mistakes'. 'Service was activated on April 19, 2017 and I requested to cancel on April 5, 2017'. Cancel before activation?
Virtually all of my complaints were ignored from items filed on 27 June 2017 #1504803-153193.
They claim there was 'no opportunity given to address any technical issues and no attempts made to troubleshoot the service. With no history of issues...early termination fee is a valid charge.' They have issued a $200.00 credit for early termination of the Internet and waived phone early termination fee. Hughsnet had denied that I called numerous times complaining of the poor service. They did not acknowledge their violation of FCC regulations about assigning a phone number 83 miles away. I have since filed with FCC ticket number # 1799717 on 25 July 2017.
A few years ago when I lived in Louisville, Kentucky EMT services responded in moments when I dialed 911 completely unable to speak or breathe. I doubt I would be alive if that happened here with the phone number they assigned. Should I ask for compensation for that fear they put me through?
Direct TV should be payed early termination fee by Hughsnet because of their many poor business practises and gross negligence. I should be compensated for all my filing fees and the many hours I have spent/wasted on them.*” ...Show less »
