Claimant says: "Located at 1801 NW Exprsway, McAllen, TX 78503. (956)217-3230. On 09-09-10 I intended to buy a laptop and was inticed to make it into a bundle with the convincing that the new wireless laptop would be most useful with the wireless printer, plus a new anti-virus program in the bundle. The salesman said he would knock off $40 and install the anti-virus and set up the computer for running. At the end of the deal, he did nothing of what he promised, said the computer cash register wouldn't allow for the $40 and the set up turned out to be putting my name into the computer, which I could do myself, and then the anti virus was just inserting a CD, which I could also do myself. But he said that when I got home, everything was simple and it would all be up and running in a snap.
It was no snap. The first step in setting up turned out to be charging the battery fully, which turned out to be 3 to 4 hours, so I don't see how he would have been able to fulfill his original promises at the store anyway. I was not up and running for another day, with calls to Tech Support, so nothing was a snap.
Then somebody told me about wireless routers and I went back to the store on 09-14-10 and a different salesman also pleasantly made promises that this thing was easy to install. The CD instructions came to two places asking for actions I didn't know how to perform. I called the store and another young salesman said he and none of the others knew how to install this, that the Tech was out to lunch at 5 P.M. and would be back in an hours. When that person called, he said it would be better for them to come to my house to install. When I agreed he said he was going to go ask about an appointment. When he came back he said I needed to go to the store to get the appointment. Then he added that the reason I had to go to the store was to pay $149 for the installation.
This store's salespeople 1) Are not knowledgeable about their products, 2) make inticing promises they don't keep, 3) don't inform of hidden costs.*” ...Show less »
