Claimant says: "Check Engine light came on about a six weeks ago on my 2006 SLK 280, took it to my station and the diagnosis was the balance shaft, they suggested I call mercedes and see if it was possibly a recall item! I did so , they said I should bring it to them to diagnose, I did so, left the car at Ray Catena service center in the morn., was called in the afternoon by Neal Ignozzi and told it was the balance shaft and would cost $4000.00 to fix, but also was told it was a faulty part!
