Claimant says: "Check Engine light came on about a six weeks ago on my 2006 SLK 280, took it to my station and the diagnosis was the balance shaft, they suggested I call mercedes and see if it was possibly a recall item! I did so , they said I should bring it to them to diagnose, I did so, left the car at Ray Catena service center in the morn., was called in the afternoon by Neal Ignozzi and told it was the balance shaft and would cost $4000.00 to fix, but also was told it was a faulty part! Neal stated he would see if Mercedes would pay. he needed receipts for my oil changes. I picked the car up that evening, was told I could drive the car just not far. faxed over my receipts, I had six of them, then was told the milage did't add up, re faxed the receipts a few days later, and was told again that the recieipts were all written over and did not look good to fax over to Mercedes , I said to fax them anyway , they were legitimate receipts ,and they have nothing to do with the FAULTY PART in my car. I did some research on the part and turns out there are thousands of people having the same problem with their Mecedes with this certain motor , also is a class action law suit, which i joined. Neal said he would contact me in a few days with the response from Mercedes about paying for the replacement of this faulty part. While waiting for his call i called Ray Catena dealership two different times and tried to make an appointment to sit down with Mr. Catena to discuss the problem. Both times i was told i could not do that , i could not leave a voicemail for him, and that the general manager would call me back. Never heard from him. After a month i called Neal Ignozzi at the service center, missed his call, called him back left a message for him to leave a message on my cell phone as to Mercedes decision on replacing this part, no response. Mercedes has paid for some cars to get the part replaced, they know this part was faulty. I would like to file a complaint against Ray Catena for this faulty part in my car. All of these cars should have been recalled a long time ago. It affects years 2004 to 2010.*” ...Show less »
