The clerk proceeded to run down the charges and total of $999.80. I said NO WAY, I'm not paying $1k for 1 week rental - if that's the price, I want my original reservation. The clerk told me wouldn't be the price because $200 discount would apply upon return - Total $799.80, Upon return my receipt that still said $999.80. I asked about the $200 promotion and was told it would be refunded in couple days. I checked for refund everyday - nothing. When I called to complain and asked for manager, I got the run around, transferred, on hold, disconnects, voicemail. 7 total calls. I called corporate who said they would have local branch manager call me. I got return call within 10ms from someone claiming to be location manager. He was not at all concerned at all by the issue (I suspect this is a common tactic for employees to get their incentives.) He offered to reprimand the employee and document it in their employee file. I asked what about the $200? - I should not pay $200 so that you could discipline your employees not to lie. He actually responded, if I can get the employee to admit he lied, I will credit the $200. But, if he doesn't admit it, I can't credit the $200. He can reprimand the employee based upon my complaint, but needs admission from employee to reimburse me?? I specifically stated if the cost is $999.80 I don't want it and wish to go with my original reservation But not for the blatant lie of a $200 upon return promo offer, I would have NEVER accepted the rental. Blatantly dishonest business practices and I'll NEVER rent from Hertz again, EVER. I will tell every potential consumer, business & travel blogs, agencies - everyone I can my story. I don't want anyone else to have this happen and possibly lose their jobs for authorizing what looks to be extravagant upgrade, rather than an Innocent promotion acceptance. right is right and wrong is WRONG!*” ...Show less »
