Claimant says: "On 7/16/10 I logged on to the Aer Lingus website and reviewed the flights and prices available for a one way trip for my wife and myself to return from a cruise vacation on 5/19/11. At that time they had the best price available and I purchased the flight also paying an excess baggage fee and insurance for a total of $1440.18 (EUR1096.10).
Since then I have had a couple of problems.
First the insurance company, Mondial Assistance, to which I was referred to on the Aer Lingus web site and booked a policy along with my ticket, sent me their confirmation in Dutch on 7/16/10. I E-mailed them back requesting an English translation. On 7/30/10 I received an E-mail from them stating ???It is not possible to resent (sp) this mail in English.??? I then called Aer Lingus customer service and was told that they were not responsible and I needed to go to the Mondial website. I again requested through the customer support on the Mondial website an English translation. On 8/10/10 I received an E-mail from Mondial telling me that there was no English translation and to go to Aer Lingus customer service and another on 8/11/10 stating that only legal residents of the Netherlands could be insured under this policy. They said that if I gave them my confirmation # they would refund the cost. I e-mailed that information to them but have not yet seen the refund (approximately $100.00)
Next on 8/18/10 I received an e-mail from Aer Lingus advising of a schedule change. It made my connecting flight impossible. When I called Aer Lingus about changing flights I was told that there would be an additional charge of $150.00 per ticket for doing that. I then asked if I could just cancel this booking and rebook. They told me that there was no refund and I would lose my entire payment. They advised me to check with my travel insurance company to see if I could get some relief from them. Obviously because of the problem with Mondial I can not get any relief from them.
At this point I have not canceled the booking because of the threat of no refund. However, my preference would be to cancel and rebook with another airline.*” ...Show less »
