Claimant says: "I have filed four maintenance requests for the glaring laser lights shining into our bedroom and living/dining room apartment which we just moved into on January 6, 2012. We are asking for the wattage to be reduced but it seems that can't be done. When, talking to community manager, I was told they could install drapes but I wasn't told on the first request - they put a paper cover over the light shining into our bedroom and nothing for lights shining into living/dining room - it does not adequately reduce the glaring laser beams. One maintenance person told me I could buy drapes to cover the the window (I put a black towel which covers part of the window), however the community manager said today they would install them at no cost to us, but - the person in charge of installation is terribly busy and probably won't be able to get around to it until next week. This is only one of the issues which we have had since moving into a move in ready apartment just a month ago.
The other issue is the air conditioner in the garage had black crusty mildew/mold on it and maintenance painted over the black crust and poured bleach in the pans. I was told by the community director it wasn't mold - however, the amount of bleach that was used was toxic and gave us headaches and in addition, we were told not to set the air conditioner below 70 degrees (this is Tampa, Fl) which leaves the townhouse upstairs pretty warm most of the time where the bedrooms are located and glaring lights shine in nightly.
We are African American senior citizens just moving into Florida and I feel we are being harassed by the management to move and break our lease (which would be costly) because they don't seem to be concerned about resolving our maintenance issues in a timely manner.*” ...Show less »
