Claimant says: "I am a regular customer at Sierra's restaurant and I visit there at 3 times a week (at minimum) Needless to say I was shocked with the treatment that I received on Saturday, April 28th, 2012.
I asked for my bill and the bartender ran my card for the bill. They have a new computer system set up which has been giving them problems. At first he did not state what the exact problem was but called the night manager Jose (the older one) Jose informed me that the computer had charged an incorrect amount and charged my card. The original bill was for $23 and some change.
I asked him to credit back the card and informed him that I would go to the ATM machine next door and pay cash. When I returned, Jose presented me with a bill for $63 and some change. I told him that this was not my bill and requested that we go to the bartender (Joshua) to pull up my original tab. When I informed Joshua that the bill was incorrect as it also included foods and such that I did not order, he agreed with me that it was incorrect and would have it fixed.
Everything was fine up until one of the newer employees who was cleaning the area had stopped her duties to listen to the conversation with management and myself. Finding this to be unprofessional, I turned to the employee, and asked her why was she standing there listening to a conversation that had nothing to do with her. There was no screaming or yelling involved; however, another bartender (Katie) who is also new to the restaurant (they recently hired several new employees) She turned to me and said you don't have to be rude! I was about to explain to her that I was not being rude, it was the employee that was out of line, when she said I am the owner here.
I know, for a fact that she is not. The owner's name is Reagan Jaramillo. Though she may be related to him, she is not the owner.
At this point Josh the bartender who had been attending to me during the course of the evening and had previously agreed that my bill was incorrect, said You need to leave. Don't pay the bill and all and do not come back here again.
I found this to be very inappropriate as I have frequented this restaurant for 5 years. All of the staff (except the recent hires) know me and the other regulars as well. I have never had a problem with them in the past. As a matter of fact, other customers and regulars can testify that when I go there I sit either quietly watching TV or listening to their jukebox. Other regulars have been asked to leave for intoxication and rudeness they imposed on other customers due to their intoxication and for falling asleep at the bar when this is a family restaurant.
I find their decision to ask me to leave and never return highly out of the ordinary and uncalled for. I was just asking to have my bill corrected and even took the length to go next door to pull money out of the ATM machine to pay my $23 dollar tab.
