Claimant says: "I adopted a cat from this organization on 3/12/2012, by the time 3/30/2012 came along I realized along with the cat I had fleas as well.
Prior to 3/30/2012 I spoke to my cats foster care giver and ask if my cat had been treated for fleas. I was assured she had been to spite the fact that the cat was continuesly scratching, I asked if the care giver had the medical records for my cat. She said I should have recieved them at the time of adoption, which I did not. She said she would mail them to me. and she did. When I recieved them it showed the last time my cat had been treated for fleas was on 1/22/2012, this was a single month treatment.
I immediatley bought and and applied flea treatment to the cat. I then realized I was getting bit as well...I NEVER SAID my house was infested, I simply called and told this organization that my cat had fleas and I would like the cost for the foggers (flea treatment for the house) refunded. After speaking to three people I got a little tired of being accused of lying, and decided to File a BBB report, since the treasurer (delightful gentleman and yes I'm afraid I'm being sarcastic), was very arrogant and accusing with me on the phone, I realized they never intended to reimburse me at all.
I feel that them reimbursing me for at least the flea treatment for my house would be a sign of good faith. But this man mentioned several ways a person could get fleas as well as (he felt) having the cat in my house for 19 days would not be enough time to cause fleas to show up (his words were infest) which were not mine. I explained to him that I owned cats my entire life as well as bred Persians for several years, I know when there are fleas in my home. After being accused of bringing them in on my person I explained I have not been anywhere for the past 4 months due to a crushed nerve in my back - I could not walk, I only recently have been able to get back out and even drive a car...so I assure you I have not gone walking in the park bringing fleas back to my home. Not to mention in all the years I have owned and raised cats I have yet to acquire fleas by that method. I have NEVER reported any one or organization to the BBB in my life but this situation really upset me. Because of my spine problem I had to have major surgery so I could walk again, can you imagine what I went through to pack the cat up and set the house up for the foggers and then in 3 hrs come back home and have to come in and vacuum all the carpeted area's and scrub the floors before allowing my cat back in because of the poison used to destroy the fleas, the cat may have gotten very ill. I guess the bottom line is no matter where they say the fleas came from they certainly were not in my home prior to adopting and bringing the cat in. This man had no good faith at all in him, I feel he was more then prepared to deny my request. Having said this I will nconclude with the fact that I was told my the foster care giver 2 - 3 days earlier that she spoke with the representative from this organization and was told they had decided to reimburse me, then this man called and was one of the most rudest people I have ever spoke to and told me that the foster representative was wrong in telling me they would reimburse me. I feel after having gone through all the physical exertion to clean my home of fleas and the expense the very least they could do is reimburse me for the cost. I am so disappointed in this organization and will never do business with them again. I will also tell everyone I know about my experience.
I will say the foster lady and the representative, Cathy from the organization I spoke to initially were very professional, unfortunately I cant say the same for their TREASURER Mr Jerry Thomas Moore, who assured me the cat was treated in February but yet I have medical records that show diferrent, not to mention the FLEAS. Thank you for your time and consideration. Diana Kinker*” ...Show less »
