Claimant says: "In August of 2011 Magic City Gift show promoters contacted me, as a business owner to sell me a space in the Orange Orlando Convention center for a Gift show, which was Scheduled for Sept. 23,24 and 25th 2011. The fee for a 10X10 space was $850.00. I intially informed the promoters that I would not be interested. However, they continued to call me on a daily basis informing me that they expected over 25,00 shoppers to attend this event and further directed me to their website - www.magiccitygiftshow.com. Again, I did not want to take a risk with the economy and I really could not afford to take a lost. However, the promoters persisted and was relentless with the hype, until I consented that I would do the show. They asked for payment immediately via credit card over the phone. Which was taken out of my bank account. By September 22, I had borrowed money to purchase more merhandise, pay for rental van, and for a three(3) day hotel stal. Myself along with over 200 v ndors embarke upoon the Orlando convention center to set up for the over 25,00 shoppers that were promised to attend this event. To everyone's amazement no customers showed up. Needless to say the Convention Center turned into choas with so many vendors including myself as we figured out that we had been skammed out of our money. Fees for booth spaces ranged from $850.00 to over $4,000 for those vendors who had drove in from out of state and had secured two(2) to 3 spaces for their merchandise. The promoters began to disappear and only came around on the Saturday Septem 24, to tell all of us that had not left that they were sorry things did not work our We asked for our monies back since these promoters did not deliver the services they promised which is documented on their website. I personnaly lost over $3,000 in expenses and booth fees for this event. I did contact my credit card company to file a dispute, however, the credit card company wants an invoice receipt which I don't have because the money transaction was processed over the phone. I do have documentation and receipts of my paid rented space.( # 307) These people are allowed to get away with a creative way of stealing and scamming me out of my money and never delivered the services nor ensuring that they had covered advertising and marketing. Please advise how I can pursue to at least get my rent back. I have a family, as most of the vendors and we all were scammed. This is nothing of robbery . these people collected over 1/2million dollars from all the Vendors combined and delivered nothing. Monetary damages exceeded $3,000 dollar.
