Claimant says: "On july 16 iwas hired on as a dishwasher. Me and the manager John agreed on an hourly pay rate of 9.50 an hour. The first week i worked 27.5 hrs. John was on vacation after that friday for a week so Stephanie was incharge of getting my id punch in number so i could clock in. She failed to do so and at the same time never even wrote any of my hrs down. Myself having been a mgr before took upon myself to write all of my hrs down just incase she failed to do so. I did that because everyday i kept asking about my clockin number and she kept saying we would get it done the next day which of course never happened. When Jerome the kitchen mgr came back from his vacation on Saturday July 24th ifinally got my clockin number. When he looked in the computer he saw that i had no hours for the whole first week that i worked there. So I gave him the sheet with days and times i worked so he could put in the computer for me. Now the other dishwasher Ramon started the day before and was clocking in his second day. So of course when it came time to pick our payroll checks up on july tyhe 30th 2010 to my suprise i recieved no check. Stephanie looked on the computer at that time and told me since they put my hours in that saturday the 24th it was to late. Stephanie told me that my next check in two weeks would have the 27.5 hrs on it so i would ju8st get a bigger check. I told that was fine.During the next two weeks there were at least three times i was on the schedule to work and Ramon had days off. I drove 20 miles to work according to my work schedule to be sent back home because Ramon was already there working when he was supposed to be off. So I ofcourse drove 20 miles back home wondering why we even had a schedule and why management could not pick up the phone and let me know not to come in. Which of course is always expected of employees to call in if you are going to be late or just not going to make it in that day. So when payday August the 13th came a month after i started i expected to get the 27.5 hours plus the hours I worked during the next pay period. When I went to get my check i was informed by the new mgr Casey that John, Jerome, and Jeff which were three of my managers were all terminated. So i got my first checked which 18.73 hrs on it with a pay raqte of 7.25 an hr. So I took it upon myself to go ahead and try to find work elsewhere. When I called the new manager Casey back and informed him of the hours missing on my check he said he could only give me another check for 22 hours leaving out 5.5 hours that i did work already. When i asked Casey about the payrate he said John lied to me and its really only 7.25 an hr. Now Casey also said that when u get hired you and the hiring manager agree on the payrate its between only you and the manager and that is your set pay. Now since I have never met or spoke with Casey before except for that payday august the 13th 2010 we never discussed anything to do with my position and definately not my payrate. So apparantly Casey took it upon himself to change my payrate without ever meeting me or speaking to me. Which also said it only has to do with the hiring mgr and the employee. I was already employeed by with community services incorporated and left job because I was giving a payrate that was better and was told i could get as many hours as i wanted. Which I definately needed with all my bills I have and being a father with a 4 year old son. I finally just want to say this was the worst management I have ever worked for and the new management doesnt seem to be any better. Especially because Stephanie also a manager who did not get let go was at least 50 pefcent of my problem if not more.*” ...Show less »
