Claimant says: "I went to claim my taxes on Jan 8th or somewhere there abouts and at that time they gave me a 50 dollar loan and they filed my taxes for me. I was told that my refund was going to be 5960 dollars they didnt really give me a solid amount but told me that the 50 dollar loan i got would come out my refund money. I was told if my w's were in before the 17th that they could submit it on that day. I dropped my w's off on the 16th. Then on the 30th my check came in. I went there to pick it up and when I did realized that my check was short by 629 dollars. I asked her why it was so short and she said either it was a problem on the irs or them but she would give her supervisor my number and have them call me when the issue was resolved. A couple of days later someone called me and informed me to come pick up my state check so i said ok, but while on the phone i asked them about the issue with my missing money and he told me that they charged me four hundred dollars to do my schedule c. I told them i have been filing self employment for years and that i am never charged more to do a schedule c. The biggest point of this complaint is that at the time of filing my taxes they didnt provide me with any proof of what their fees were or what money was coming out of my check. The only thing they told me was that they would be deducting 50 dollars for my loan. They never informed me of their tax prep fees or the extra money for the schedule c. So when i went to pick up my state tax check I asked them again to inform me of where the missing money was. I made sure to talk to the same lady i did when i orginally picked up my check the one who said she would inform her manager and have him call me. I asked her why she didnt inform a couple days prior where the missing money went and she told me that she didnt realize i filed a schedule c. So then i asked her why i wasnt informed of the fees and she said that it is not their responsibility to inform me but my responsibility to ask. I told her anytime i go get my taxes done that before i walk out i am informed of what is coming out of my check for either loans, fees, etc. However, they didnt inform me. So when i spoke with her i asked her if she had a print out of all the fees that they took from me.
And she did but even after i deducted what they said i owed them the money was still short. She specifically said, That it was my responsibility to ask them about there fees and that during training they are told that if the customer does not ask they dont reveal that information. I am very upset about this because had i known about these fees i wouldnt of prepared my taxes with them. I know how to do them myself anyhow and have been to many tax companies that inform their customers of their fees i just like getting them done somewhere to know that i can get my max refund and have a sense of security of knowing exactly what im getting and when. This is not how this company met my expectations. It is now the 6th of january and i still have had no call about the missing money or about the situation. I picked my check up on the 30th and was back there on the 3rd to get my state check. She said he would call me and still hasnt.*” ...Show less »
