Claimant says: "I feel like Alco store in Pine River discriminates upon people of color. This is what I have written to the Alco store headquarters.
I am sending this cause I am done with the customer service at your pine river store- 173 Barclay ave, west pine river Mn. 56474.
I have had bad experiences before and have just blown them off.
This time I cannot and will not give the Alco store any more of my money.
My daughter was caught stealing almost 2 years ago. I decided that I would again ask if she can come in with me when I shop. I can ask right!!!!!
Well before 1:30 on Feb. 2nd 2012, they called Rob the store manager for me. I asked him since it has been 2 years since the theft, if she would be able to come back into the store. I got an angry look like how dare I ask this. He proceeded to say in a bad tone. No she stole 90$ from me. I told him that it was just rude the way that he said it. With a meaner look he then said. How should I say it? I said that if you would have said it in a nicer way, I would have been okay with it. I then told him why he did not check the girls that she was with. Cause they too have stolen from Alco. He said that he never got an apology from the person that picked her up. At that time I was at work and the police officer had never called me. I did apologize to the girl that was on duty when I went into the store next. One of them was the daughter of an employee. I then figured that it was cause she is a native american and asian girl that has a brown color to her.
Now this is not the first time that this kind of stuff has happened. I was belittled once in line. The cashier was saying under his breath (don???t come here- don't come here) many times he repeated this. Then as soon as I got to the register he told me to go to another register. I wanted to cry because I felt so discriminated on. I just blew this off thinking that it was just the employee that had a problem. So when I would go in I would just go to a different teller. I have a friend that is Hispanic and Indian, Who has had some of the same experiences that I have. She is one that says it outright and don't hold anything in like me.
So I am just letting you know that it has been to many times and I can no longer be quiet about it. The cashier that I had today was Carol; she is a very nice person. So is the supervisor Samantha that was going to give me another item, cause the one I wanted they had none of.
Both Samantha and Carol heard how rob was talking. I apologized to both of them more than once, and said that it was not them that did anything wrong.
I did return all the items that I had purchased and gave Samantha my Alco rewards card. Knowing now that me and my 5 children and their wives will never set foot into that store again. I will be going to the better business bureau; I have felt like I have been discriminated upon.*” ...Show less »
