Claimant says: "I hired A2Z Radon to do radon mitigation on a home I had listed with tested levels of 5.5 pci/l and 4.0 pci/l is the EPA accepted level. The recommendation to use this company came from the buyers agent. A2Z did their 1st phase of the install mitigation equipment and charged the homeowner $895. The home was tested twice after the install and read at level 5.3 and the third time 7.7 pci/l which meant the level is now going up. I tried to get them to come back to fix the problem but the install person was going out to town and would not be back until after the closing date on this home and said they couldn't help me out.
I asked another company to come in and give me an evaluation of the job done by A2Z. The second man I hired is with CARMA and he took pictures and sent emails and copied the state of Colorado Radon office with and evaluation of all the inferior work and materials of the completed job and concluded why the radon levels were now higher than before the mitigation was started. I have proof of all this.
In order to get the radon problem resolved, the homeowner, on my recommendation, hired the second company Pikes Peak Radon to tear out all of the work done by A2Z Radon and do a completely different job. This had to be done and tested before closing.
After Pikes Peak completed the job correctly the tests came back at 3.1 pci/l which was below acceptable EPA standards.
A2Z Radon did a terrible job and I found out afterwards that the local news station, 9News, had done an expose on the owner of this company in May 2011 for having been threatened to come and kill the homeowner because she found out that they had given her fraudulent radon readings after the mitigation. Here's the link to that expose:
