I have a pragmatic approach to things. When I look into the future as an individual contributing effectively to the society, I found that to be practical you need to be having a good understanding of its laws. Like in a baseball, if you want to score best you first need to learn the rules and after that you can develop yourself. This understanding of law droved me to the legal field. I being a resident of underdeveloped area of Pakistan where most of illegal things are deemed to be legal, chose this track to eradicate those custom old tradition. Like the bounded labor community in Pakistan, the bounded labor community of Pakistan lack the basic right like CNIC(Computerized national identity card) card which ultimately results in lacking of other fundamental rights like right to vote etc. I had a strong motivation that this path will ultimately lead me to root out ill practices. The world is moving so fastly that we need individuals to make it less chaotic. The law ensures that the world is flowing smoothly and humanity still persist.
Views on the practice of law
As I am a first year student of law, I found law an interesting as well as challenging subject. Rather then playing with machines you are dealing with society and social relations so it puts a lot of responsibility on an individual. The law is made for a “common good”. Although the laws of different countries are different but the ultimate goal is for the “common good” of that country based upon their own understanding. Also most of the laws are same because all the societies strive for welfare of humanity. Although I have not found the international law that international. As Austin said, “Law is the command of sovereign”, I did not found any sovereign body to enforce it. We have the United Nation but it enforces laws mostly through economic sanctions which is less effective.
Reason to be here
I really loved this initiative. The core purpose of law is to ensure justice and justice need to be provided at the doorstep. Today in the modern world internet serves as a doorstep and why not we should use it for ensuring justice. This initiative is providing a platform to access justice without any biases. I opted the legal field to contribute to the society and as Peopleclaim is putting their share through an effective way, I want to put my share as well. I studied a wide range of courses in my freshman and sophomore year at University which gave me a deep insight into the cultures and of Pakistan and other international affairs. I also attained a conference on “Global Youth Citizenship education” organized by UNEFI which helped to understand the human rights and other issues that Pakistan is facing. The courses of management science which I took in my sophomore year will aid me to put my share. I am currently working as Director LUMS Law and Politics Society as Director and ambassador of NILS(Network of International Law Student) which will help me to introduce PeopleClaim to the Pakistan community.
