About Leonard F.

After graduating from The John Marshall Law School in 1968, Leonard Amari was in private practice in the boutique litigation firm of Lupel & Amari until 1986 before accepting the position of general counsel to the Office of the Cook County Assessor. Amari held that position for three years. In 1989, he joined with fellow John Marshall alumnus Joseph F. Locallo, Jr. (JD ‘76/LLM ’87) to form Amari & Locallo. The firm focuses exclusively on real estate tax assessment issues.

Amari has been a John Marshall trustee since 2000 and was elected president of the board in 2007. He also has served the legal community as president of the Illinois State Bar Association, as a member of the Chicago Bar Association’s State and Local Taxation Committee, and as a member and past president of the Justinian Society of Lawyers. He also served for nine years as a member of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission Review panel, and also served as its chair (2005 to 2008). He has received numerous honors from organizations recognizing his service.
