About
Michael Parker
Currently I am a volunteer with the McLennan County Dispute Resolution Center. I also hold the Basic Mediation 40 hour training certificate (was awarded in August 2011). I am currently working towards my BA Degree in Paralegal Studies. My overall goal in pursuing my education in Paralegal Studies is to become a family law paralegal and to act as a child advocate.
I believe that all individuals are entitled to proper representation in our judicial system and that the level of representation should not be based on the amount of money an individual can or cannot afford to pay.
Children, who are at the center of all domestic disputes deserve someone who will lookout for nothing more than their best interest and who will act as their voice during those times when their parents cannot seem to get along.
Views on the practice of law
Again, each individual is entitled to their day in court. The fact that one person does not have access to large sums of money, should not determine the effectiveness of their legal representation or the quality of that representation.
Reason to be here
Due to the internship being Conflict Resolution and considering that I currently hold the Basic Mediators Training certificate and that I volunteer with my local Dispute Resolution Center gives me a better insight to assisting the type of clients your agency works with on a daily basis. I feel that my strength in having dealt with Conflict Resolution in my volunteer position provides me with the assests your agency is looking for and that my training in the paralegal profession will better assist you and your clients in coming to resolution that will be beneficial to all parties' involved.
