Claimant's opinion: They posed as a Norton security agent....All they done was ruin my computer, and all my info.
Claimant's opinion: Kept me on hold for hours.. Then gave me the run-around, about my problem.
Claimant's opinion: I honestly, believed they were a Norton Rep., when I agreed to pay for the work..They were just a SCAM, to get my money. I am on a fixed income, and cannot afford this kind of stuff.I figured, it was better to pay $249.99, than to buy a new computer. They said I would have to do it.
I have had 3 different calls from someone, I believe is this Scammer.I cannot understand them completely, but, they refer to my computer.I just hang up, as I don't need them , messing with my computer again.I just want my money back.. Thank you
This is interesting. It sounds like a typical tech scam out of India, except that Geek AppCenter's site is quite elaborate. However....it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
The address for Geek AppCenter is 1881 Daytona Dr, San Jose, California, 95122.
Zillow shows that 1881 Daytona Dr, San Jose is a 1,352 square foot single family home; the address is occupied by one Resham Takhar. The Geek AppCenter website claims that it's a 20,000 square foot "lab" with 300 work stations. There's a very nice picture of people working industriously with the legend "we innovate here." Tardis? I suggest that Dr Who considers filming its next episodes at Geek AppCenter.
Furthermore, Geek AppCenter has supposedly "been named among the top mobile application development companies by Silicon USA." According to Google, Silicon USA is a Refractory Anchoring Systems and Fastening Products company. There isn't any award for tech development by anything called Silicon USA that I could find. I looked back through several pages of search results.
All in all, my spider senses are tingling.
What I can't tell is whether Geek AppCenter was the one that hacked the claimant's computer and then came on to rescue him or her, or just glommed on later - there's a lot of it about. There are any number of possible scenarios.
If Geek AppCenter actually hacked the computer, a forensic computer expert would probably be able to find that out. I would suggest that if the claim isn't settled, the customer checks out the possibility of tracking the hacker.
India has been cracking down on scams and recently busted a bunch of phony "IRS agents." I think they're probably about ready to go after some tech support people. This stuff is just embarrassing for India.
I LOVE the mouse solution. Oh yeah, the mouse was the culprit. That's high tech for you!
Hopefully this company will do the right thing. I will check back in a week or so; I have some ideas if not.
Thank you so much, for your interest..I had a phone number for Norton Security. That is the number, I called, and this Hacker came on . He said he was from Norton. Since, I'd been with Norton for years, I believed him.I allowed him to take control of my computer. That, is when the trouble started. He informed me, My computer was full of Virus, and needed to be cleaned. Otherwise, I'd have to get a new computer.I tried to run a scan from Norton, and my computer was frozen.!This gentleman called me on my cell phone, and informed me:" He could clean it all up, for $249.95."I thought, that cheaper than a new computer, so I agreed. From then on, it was all down hill! I couldn't get back online. After many tries at correcting my computer. Long waits online, while they tinkered, and losing all mu documents, Photos, and computer, I decided to quit them.I told them, I wanted my money back, but all they done, was keep calling me. Kept wanting to try again to fix my computer. I want nothing more to do with them.I reported them, to my credit union, but, couldn't do anything there, as I agreed to let them fix my computer. I also made a report to the BBB... Then, I found you folks, and tried to get help with you.

PeopleClaim is a new way to resolve disputes online without lawyers or mediators. By inviting suggestions from the public, disputing parties get ideas that can lead to settlement – and the person(s) who contributed them can win a reward.
Here's what to do: Read the case (left side of page). Then go to the bottom of the page and enter your suggestion in the space provided. Click the Solution button.
Your suggestion will be sent to both parties and will post on the claim. If the two sides agree to settle based on your suggestion, you're eligible to win. Note: Cash rewards may be split among more than one person if settlement depends on ideas from more than one contributor. If you have a claim of your own to resolve, click here.
You can submit up to three solutions / rebuttal, you would like to settle or to be voted on.
