Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"SINCE OCTOBER 31, 2013, A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE TRIED TO TELL PEOPLE IN CUSTOMER SERVECE THAT I AM UNABLE TO GET ANY RECEPTION TO CONTINUE WITH THIS COMPANY, DIRECT TV. I TOLD THEM THE DAY I CALLED TO CANCEL SERVICE THAT I ALREADY KNEW FROM THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY AT MY APARTMENT COMPLEX THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE SERVICE WITH THEM BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY INFORMED, BY MANAGEMENT AT HUNTER HILL APARTMENTS, THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET RECEPTION THERE. NO ONE CAN OR HAS BEEN ABLE TO. EVERYONE HAS CABLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT EITHER WAY A TECHNICIAN WAS GOING TO HAVE TO COME OUT TO VERIFY THAT IN PERSON AND LET THEM KNOW IF THAT WAS THE CASE. SO A TECHNICIAN DID, HE VERIFIED EXACTLY THAT PROBLEM AND ALSO COMMENTED ON NOT SEEING ANY SATELLITE DISHED ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERY AT ALL AND THAT HE WOULD LET HIS BOSS KNOW. WELL, PEOPLE AT DIRECT TV WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT ANSWER AND WANTED ME TO PAY AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE. I TOLD CHERYL NICELY, PROPERTY MANAGER ON SITE, MY PROBLEM AND SHE SAID THAT EVERYONE HAS HAD THIS PROPBLEM WITH DIRECT TV WHO HAD HAD IT BEFORE THEY MOVED TO HUNTER HILL APARTMENTS. SHE, CHERYL, CALLED HERSELF AND TOLD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IT WASN'T THAT I WASN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE SERVICE THERE, IT WAS THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO GET RECEPTION THERE FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE GETTING SERVICE WITH THEM. WELL, THAT STILL WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH AND THEY DIDN'T BELEIVE HER EITHER. SO, ALL IN ALL, THREE SEPERATE PEOPLE TELLING THEM THAT IT WASN'T POSSIBLE TO CONTINUE SERVICE WITH THEM, "EVEN THEIR OWN TECH., THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE. I AM STILL GETTING CALLS AND BILLS FROM THEM TO THIS DAY! I NEED SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS IDIOT PLACE OF SOME TYPE OF BUSINESS. THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP LEGITIMATE PEOPLE OFF FOR THEIR OWN PROFIT AND IT WON'T WORK WITH ME!"

I also need to mention that an an Early Cancellation Fee can only be waived for a line of sight issue if it is marked as such by the installer that came to your home. A line of sight issue must be officially verified and marked on the work order that is assigned to the technician. If the installer that came to your home did not close the work order in this manner, we do not have the option to waive an agreement on the account. If your would like to look into a second opinion about your installation situation, feel free to call us at (800) 531-5000.
