Claimant says:
"I was a Monthly Parking Customer of Standard Parking Plus, Inc at the Queen's Place Mall, Elmhurst, New York from 15 December to 31 January 2017. There are no Contracts and parking is paid on a Monthly basis. On 27 January 2017, I renewed my Monthly Parking for 2 additional months, namely, February and March. On 29 January 2017, when I went to take my car out, I realized my car was vandalized, and the small Window to the back seat (the car only has 2 doors) was smashed, and there was glass all over the back seat and the Floor of the garage. My car is a Toyota Scion 2013. I informed the Security Officer on duty, who in turn advised me to report it to the SP employee in the booth below. The man prepared an "Incident Report", took pictures of the damage on his Cell Phone and gave me a copy of the Report. I filed a Claim for the damage I sustained of $424 to replace the Glass window with the SP Company. Now they send me a Letter saying, inter alia, "we are of the opinion that reasonable care was taken and that no liability rests with Standard Parking". Even the Security Officer on duty realized that there are NO Cameras in the Garage that could show who committed this crime. And they talk of reasonable care was taken? Can you believe this? Standard Parking is a Multi Million Dollar Company, not just in New York but in many of the other 49 States in the US. And they are trying to escape responsibility and stick a Senior Citizen like myself, on Fixed Income, to take responsibility for the $424 that I had to pay to fix the damage?"
