Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Approximately a year ago I responded to an invitation mailed to me by Publishers Clearing House to enter a drawing for prize money. I responded and immediately began receiving further invitations for cut rate products from this firm. After a while I responded and the product was sent to me and paid for. Thereafter I continued to receive these invitations and found that some of the products were broken, not working or not ordered. My response was to send back the invoices with a note as to the problem, or mail the product back if not ordered. I sent $10.00 along with each of these invoices so that they would realize I was trying to solve a problem while still paying a minimum amount. I did not receive any response, whatsoever so after a period of time I advised them that if they did not resolve this situation I would not be paying them any more. Some time thereafter, without receiving any verbal or written response I started receiving collection notices. Again and again I wrote a note on these notices and returned it to them with the whole story. I still received no response except from the Collection Agency for amounts all over the map. A sample of these is: 7/18/15 $45.00; 7/31/15 $244.06; 8/18/15 $45.00; 11/28/15 $249.00; 10/18/15 $222.00; and 12/29/15 (per phone) $360.00. I tried to explain to the woman on the phone what the problem is and she just became very rude and informed me that she was a collection agency and had nothing to do with complaints. Thus I am contacting you. I have no objection to paying for the items I received, which I really ordered and which worked, but I will not pay for something which was unwarranted. It was suggested to me that I contact you and I'm hoping you can help me to resolve this matter.
My account number with them seems to be R0471244.
