Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I live in a (2) bedroom apartment complex at the Anatole on MacArthur in Oklahoma City, which is a fairly new apartment complex and have been here a little over two years. I tried to make a payment on July 28th, 2017 and was very blown away by my bill. For the past (2) years my bill has never reached more than $160.00 a month because I have a well insulated apartment and my air conditioner does kick on and off.
When I called the automated system to make a payment, it said that I owed $935.00 for this month and next month. Please keep in mind that I live in a two bedroom apartment. We were not on ANY payment plan and have not had our electricity cutoff at any point, which is so crazy about the whole situation. We pay our bill at the end of every month. When I called to report this obvious issue, I was met with what are you doing differently in your home and was assured that it was not their fault and the meter was not prone to making any mistakes. The supervisor said that the fault lies with us, even though I have been doing the same thing each month. I pointed out to the Natasha, which is the supervisor that I spoke with to look at my energy bill from the previous summers and compare them to now. There is NOONE in our complex whose bill is $935.00 for two months. People in the majority of houses don't pay that and some businesses who have air conditioner on a lot more than we do don't pay that. My husband pointed out that his OGE bill at his business is not even that much per month. We wanted it to be looked into ASAP, especially since the payment was due by July 31, 2017. Supervisor Natasha said that it would be a $75.00 charge for them to come out, even though she already had made up her mind that it was us who caused this enormous jump. There is no way the energy bill could be this expensive. There is clearly a problem and it's a possibility that someone else could be using our electricity and trying to make us pay the bill, there is something wrong with the meter, they added someone else's bill to ours, etc. They will not look into the matter unless we pay the $75.00. Who in the world would want to pay $75.00 when they already owe $935.00 for two months living in an apartment for two months of service???? OGE was very unhelpful in resolving this issue and told me very little about how this came about and was not knowledgeable about how it got to this point. The only answer is it is our fault for the $935.00 for two months of service and what you can do differently. The supervisor could care less about the situation and when I asked to talk to her supervisor, she refused to give me her boss's name and extension and the decision was final. We have no reasonable explanation for this matter and they are not trying to look into the matter. Please help!!!"
