Claimant says:
"They contacted me regarding an online request for information about obtaining a modification on my home mortgage. The information they gave me was very believable and I signed a contract with them to obtain the modification on my home loan. They convinced me that they had close working relationships with Citimortage (my lien holder) and so I signed a power of attorney over to them to handle my case. As per the contract, I gave them 750/month for three months instead of paying my mortgage. I was told that I would gain leverage with my case if I fell behind. I did finally start getting foreclosure notices in the mail, and when I questioned Chris about them(John Chris Gettinger was the attorney) he told me that the department that sent me that notice was not the same department that was handling my modification. Shortly after I finished paying this attorney for services rendered, he stopped answering my calls and returning my messages. Shortly after that, Chris and his company shut off the phones and removed their webpage. I had to borrow over $9,000.00 from my family to stop the foreclosure sale. Since that time, I have discovered (via Florida Prosecuting Attorney's office) that it was illegal to charge me for a modification until after the process was completed. So it was obvious to me that this Attorney and his firm meant to burn me!. I dont think my family and I should have to suffer from Mr Gettinger's scam. He cannot repair the damage he did to my credit, but he should have to reimburse the money it cost me to resolve the problems he caused me. I am asking for $10,000.00"
