Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Wang vs. FreedomPop(11301 W.Olympic Blvd,ste.112, Los Angeles,Ca 90034

INTERNET SERVICES COMPANY SELLS HARDWARE,THEN TURNS AROUND & SAYS DEBIT CARDS NOT ACCEPTED....(CREDIT CARD COMPANIES ACKNOWLEDGE FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES,"...all perfectly legal."

I purchased one of their FreedomPop OverDrivePro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspots in Sept. of last year ($66), & was using it until this June when they told me they no longer accept debit cards to fund the data Plan!! That leaves me w/ a $66 piece of worthless hardware, which they won't refund me the purchase price. Not only that, on June 4th & thereafter, they made four fraudulent debits on my card, even after they told me they wouldn't accept it!( refer for criminal prosecution,FTC, washington,DC).
THis sounds like a roundabout way to make profits(by cancelling a monthly revenue stream by knocking the knees right out from under the customer!) But I wouldn't know, I am not a CEO of an unscrupulous company( corporate address an abandoned warehouse?wouldn't surprise me)
Although I do not think I am entitled to judicial preference(refer for criminal prosecution?), in order to be considered a felony in California, I believe the embezzlement has to be over $950(?) . I wish to resolve this matter in a timely manner, as opposed to not receiving any response whatsover from them, & if I do not receive a refund, then to warn off potential customers not to patronize, use, or purchase any of their scam merchandise/services.
They brag about being in the forefront of bringing 'internet to the masses', consumer activism, & providing 'low-cost wireless data pricing' in the industry! It's an advertising come-on to lure unwary customers hook, line & sinker into their website
The legal costs for accepting this case will exceed the amount in dispute( full refund of $66 purchase price + four fraudulent debits( $16.97, $10, $10, $3.99), for a total of $106.97 stolen from me.
As I do not hold out for a response, much less a refund of the money they stole, I am taking it to the next level(PeopleClaim & various other non-legal 3rd party venues)"

  • ..I impute that by rejecting my claim, they state that it is none of their business, or concern, since the fraudulent debits were 'legitimate' customer payments for balance due(?). I agree with many of their points raised & am now making it the FTC's business( Bureau of Consumer Protection, FTC, 601 New Jersey ave,SW,Wasington,DC 20001). I guess I will just have to be happy to have them enter the information submitted into their database, as they probably do not take these complaints seriously. If you are going to use the 'net neutrality' premises of the Internet to make instantaneous debits on a person's credit card, there will be an instantaneous resonse(FTC complaint ref#: 5501-2449). But that doesn't obviate my demand for a full refund ($61) for this worthless hardware, as it is common knowledge that it is 'locked' into the FreedomPop wireless network(Sprint?), making it impossible to migrate it to the carrier of choice. If you have a response to make, I suggest you post your sentiments to the appropriate venue.
