Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I went to Dr. Ellen Turner's office for a CONSULTATION ONLY on December 15, 2014. I had never seen her before. I had called for an appointment and had clearly stated on the phone the issues that I wanted to discuss with her. I was told the appt would cost a total amount of $120. At her office, I completed a form on which I stated again the six things I needed to discuss with her, and I had even printed out a copy of the list of concerns for Dr. Turner and myself. I was told that my total charge was $120, due in advance of my seeing Dr. Turner (paying the entire charge upfront was a first for me, in a doctor's office). I asked, and was told that my allotted time with the Dr. was 30 minutes. In the treatment room, the asst told me that since I had MORE THAN ONE thing to discuss with Dr. Turner, I would have to pay an extra $95 before I left. I told her I had been told when the appt was set and when I paid upon arrival, that my total charge for the consult was $120, but of course she made no comment. I was a little tense about talking with Dr. T, as I found her very cool and unapproachable. I gave her the list, but she only addressed three of my six concerns. Her asst had briefly discussed one of them, and her cosmetic asst discussed another one with me. I told Dr. Turner I had a scalp problem (one of the six on the list), and she never even observed my scalp; she simply wrote out two prescriptions (both of which her front desk personnel called in to my pharmacy in Ennis, and both of which stated clearly that women SHOULD NOT USE them. When I discovered this information, I was able to get a refund on one, an OTC med, and had to eat the cost of the other, but I did not open or dare use either. My most important issue (also on the list) was totally ignored by Dr. Turner, and she was gone in an instant. Still, before I left I was required to pay the extra $95, making my trip to North Dallas totally useless and very disappointing. I have waited for years to consult a "Specialist" about these concerns. When I later read my OV check-out information, I found that she had made numerous diagnoses that she didn't bother to explain. I had to Google them, instead.
I wrote Dr. Turner a letter on January 13, 2015, explaining, respectfully, how I felt about my visit to her office, and I asked for a refund of $95. The letter was addressed to her and marked Personal and Confidential, but I have never received any type of response.
I am now requesting a FULL refund of $215.00, due to the fact that the consultation was a total rip-off of my time and money, and a totally bad experience for me."
