Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"A while back, I bought a "floor model" kitchen range from Big George's Appliance Mart in Ann Arbor, MI.
When the delivery men brought it to my condo--it was in a sealed box--obviously not the floor model I bought and paid for. The delivery men told me they didn't know about the "floor model". They told me, "this one came from our warehouse it wasn't. Big George's claims it was the same stove--I think they "made that up". It seems to have been a "bait and switch" product.
It never worked properly. I had to throw food away that was baked in the oven--including a cake I baked for a big party. I did not have enough desserts for that gathering of at least 20 people.
I stopped baking cookies for my grandchildren, which I do on a regular basis, because they didn't bake properly.
When I called Big George's about the stove--they gave me the run around. They said it was the same stove. It most certainly wasn't the "floor model" I paid for. They said it was a similar stove--I don't think that is true. Maybe they "made that up". The stove that was delivered had 2 large burners on the front. and 2 small burners in back. (I would never have bought a stove with 2 large burners because I mostly cook for 1 or 2 people. I rarely use large burners. I do almost all my stove-top cooking on small burners in small pans.
The stove was so inadequate for my regular cooking that my family brought me one of their older electric stoves -(my daughter-in-law had replaced it as she wanted a gas stove).
The stove my son and grandson brought to my house and installed in my kitchen is at least 10 years old. It works better than the one Big George's delivered. It has one large burner, 2 small burners, and one medium size burner. The burners work well. The oven works well--I have baked homemade pies, cookies, baked potatoes, and roasted a chicken in the oven in addition to other items.
My son and grandson moved the defective stove Big George's delivered to my house to my garage.
Big George's needs to pick up the wrong stove they delivered and give me my money back. (I have no plans to replace the current older, Whirlpool, because it works better than the one Big George's delivered to my house.)
This company used to have a policy of "standing behind the products they sold". That is no longer true, unfortunately...
When I called them about the problem stove, they were angry and rude and asked me if I was "threatening" them. I need to have the defective stove picked up and my money returned. The stove is of no use to me or anyone in my family.
(The stove has been my quite small garage for several weeks. It is in the way; it makes it very difficult for me to put my car in the garage, which I have been advised to do.
The stove that Big George's delivered to me a couple of months ago is the only stove I have ever had to return--I'm been cooking for many decades--since I was 12 years old. At present, I enjoy baking and cooking for my family, especially my grandchildren.
Now that I have the old "Whirlpool" stove working in my kitchen, I can bake cookies and pies for my family, again. I can.again, cook for myself.
It has been a most distressing situation for both me, my three sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 6 grandchildren--who always appreciated the cookies, pies, and other items I baked for them."
