Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On March 30, 2016 I received at service call to test and check my heating and A/C system. This was in response to their advertised $59 special. When I scheduled the appointment, I explained to the appointment Rep that I had a dual system and she said I would only be charged $59 to check both systems, but when the Tech arrived he said I needed to pay $59 for each. I did not argue the charge for the service, but then he said I needed to pay $89 to test for a leak. If I didn't want to pay the $89 charge for leak detection I could add the coolant to each system. I was then quoted a charge of $240 for 2 lbs. plus another $80 for each pound for each system. I reluctantly agreed to add the coolant to 1 system. The Tech did not point out the leak if there was one but suggested I needed to replace the cooling coils at $2700. The Tech did not appear knowledgeable and added 3 lbs. to the other unit. He had unplugged the outside electrical breaker and tried to charge the unit for 10 minutes or so before he realized his mistake. My complete system was never tested and I was never shown the problem yet I was charged $565 and I don't know if my Heating and A/C system will function as needed. ARS Tech basically added coolant and tried to sell me a new coil system for 1 unit without knowing which one had a problem. He also did not check the thermostats and airflow. Yes I am unhappy with their service and would not use them again if they were the last company in the country to offer this service. A $59 anticipated charge turned into $565 without knowing if parts of my units are fully functional. Home Pot or ARS should be ashamed of deceiving customers with their advertisement. I will never do any type of business with this company again. I even called their customer service to complain and all I got was a survey. Still no call after 3 weeks."

  • ARS sent a customer service Rep out to review the work and provided a recommendation sheet which the original service Rep failed to provide. A cost replacement for leaking coil was then provided. An additional ARS Rep came out and presented a proposal to replace entire AC system without any or little consideration of poor or improper service by servicing Tech. I got another service review of my AC system and they presented their findings and recommendations and replacement costs which were lower than ARS for same system. ARS did not make an attempt to make things right with me and I would not use them again if they were the only AC company in the world.
