Statement of Claim
"I ordered a Rack and Pinion for my 1994 Dodge Stealth from www.steeringpart.com. I found them on EBAY. There was a phone number there to call if you had questions. I called, asked my question and Andres said he could take my order over the phone. I assumed since I told him I was calling re: the ad at Ebay, that this would be an ebay order. I found out later, he did not put this through ebay. When I received the part, my mechanic at Boykin Automotive installed it. When he added the oil and tested it, the oil came pouring out on both sides. This was obviously a defective part. I called www.steeringpart.com at (305) 992-7929. My mechanice spoke to their technician and told him the problem. The technicial agreed that this was abviously a defective part. I was told to return the part in the original box and use the address label that was furnished to return the core. I was told by Andres, the owner, and by, I believe Derek, on three separate phone calls, that I would receive a full refund as soon as the part was returned. I returned the part on June 18, 2010. I have still not been credited and they have ignored a communication from my credit card company. It cost me $273 to have a defective part put in my car, removed, emptied of oil, boxed up and returned to the company. It cost me an additional $130 for a rental car, while I had to locate another rack and pinion and have it shipped to me. I was told I would not be reimbursed for the additional charges, but my credit card would be credited immediately upon receipt of the returned item to www.steeringpart.com Last month I called the company and was told that yes the part had been returned and I should see a credit on my account within 72 hours. That was almost a month ago. I only dealt with this company because they had a 100% satisfaction rating at ebay. I contacted ebay, since this is totally against their policy. They did not seem very interested. However, I have not seen any other ads from this company at ebay since. I would like to report this company for their unscrupulous business practices, and lack of ethics. I would like to warn any one else about doing business with them. In addition, I would certainly welcome any assistance in recouping at least the $187 for the defective part."
