"On March 26, 2012, around 8:00 AM, I was visited by Mr. Christian Schartner when I was staying at Glacier Canyon. He looked over my information and said that I should have benefits given to me that I never received. Then, he contacted Mr. Ray Immig, who asked me to come in and discuss these discrepancies at 10:00 AM. I went and worked out and then visited Mr. Immig in his office.
He gave me a long and tiring lecture on how he would help me out by trying to get it approved for me to be accepted into Club Wyndham Access. I was told that I could get air flights using only 30,000 of my Wyndham points, I would get 30% of my points returned to me after I made reservations, which would be retroacted from the beginning of the year, and Wyndham would give me an additional 100,000 points because I had two of my family members sign up to take the tour of the facility. Additionally, Mr. Immig promised me that he would contact the reservations office the following Monday in order to help me find a vacation that I was looking to book for a friend in Old Town Alexandria during the month of July. He said there was availability, but I had to wait for my additional points to kick in before we could make reservations.
Mr. Immig did not tell me that the 30,000 points for airline tickets were only for the bonus points given to me on my Wyndham Rewards Credit Card. He kept the book with that information on it to himself and just pointed to the section he was referring to and kept saying that this was true because it was written in this book. He also told me that the maintenance fees for my two time shares were going to double and I was just throwing my money away. If I was approved and joined Wyndham Access, I would be actually paying myself back with all the benefits I would receive. Every time I would ask him a question about something, he would get rude and tell me that he was just trying to help me out.
I told Mr. Immig that I had a Westgate Timeshare that I was trying to sell for over 10 years and was misled by another Wyndham executive in Sedona who told me he could have someone sell it for me. Ray said that I should just donate my timeshare and I would get it off my hands and earn a tax break. He gave me a web site to go to. He assured me that it was simple and pain free. When I contacted the company, I was informed that it would cost me over $2,500 to donate it. I would not call that simple and pain free.
After several hours of me sitting there without offering me as much as a drink of water, I was so confused that I just wanted to get this over with and go back to my family. He left the room and came back with a sheet of paper and numbers on it that he would not let me see. Next thing I know he was asking for my credit card information. He said he would put half of the cost to upgrade from my 500,000 points to 714,000 points that I had to buy in order to join Club Wyndham Access on my credit card. He also said that half would be billed to me in six months and I could put that on my Wyndham “Bill Me Later Account” and I could have no interest charges during those six months. Then, I would be able to transfer the $5000 to my Wyndham credit card and extend the 6 months I had on it interest free for another 18 months. I contacted the Wyndham VISA account and asked about extending the free interest and was told that was never an option available to my account. They would not be able to extend my free interest for any period of time past the initial six months.
Mr. Immig assured me that he would stay in close contact with me and I could call or text him anytime. I did text him that Monday and found out that he was sick. He left it up to Mr. Schartner to find the vacation for me in Washington. All I was able to get from him was that there was nothing available at that time. I contacted Ray back and he said that he never promised that he could find anything, but he would try again the following week. He still did not help me out at that time, so I went online and found something myself. It was not what I wanted, but this was the only thing I could get by then.
I have also tried several times to contact Mr. Immig to see why the retroactive 30% points were not placed onto my account for the vacations that I have taken so far this year. I did not see the additional 100,000 points placed in my account either. He told me that he would take care of it. So far, nothing has been done and now he refuses to even respond to my messages. Additionally, when I read the booklet he gave me, I found out that I was deceived with the point’s information. I can only use my bonus points from the Wyndham credit card for the 30,000 point air fare.
In addition to trying to contact Mr. Immig, I have called and left messages for Ann Downing, who I finally was able to talk to on June 25, 2012. She said that she would do some investigating and get back with me later in the day. It is exactly one month later and I still have not heard back from her. The one bit of information she did give me before we ended our conversation was that I would need to contact the main office where the contract was sent if I wanted to cancel my contract.
When I tried contacting the main office in Orlando, FL, I was told that the time to cancel my contract has passed and I can no longer return to my previous two contracts. If this is so, then I wish to keep this contract with the same amount of points that I had with the previous two contracts. I want the additional 210,000 points to be removed from the contract and my mortgage to be paid in full as it was before this happened.
I am a part time teacher who barely made $30,000 last year. I have to pay over $1000 a month for insurance to cover my family and I have a monthly mortgage payment of $2000, which I have been trying to refinance for two years now and can’t because of my insecure job situation. I should have never been even offered this mortgage by Wyndham in the first place. I can barely afford to pay the other bills I have. I certainly cannot afford an additional $500 mortgage payment and double the cost of my previous maintenance fees. Additionally, I want to have my maintenance fees to return to the amount I had to pay before this new contract took place.
Please cancel the contract that I signed on March 26, 2012 and give my Chase credit card back the CWA down payment of $5226.03 plus $30.00 CWA fee. Additionally, cancel the Bill Me Later amount for $5000. I have also paid four months of mortgage payments of $497.49 each. These charges need to be reimbursed to me as well.
I feel that I was misled during the six hours that Mr. Immig kept me in his office. In the past, I have been contacted by several companies who were investigating the misrepresentation of sales through Wyndham, but I never did anything because I liked Wyndham and did not want to report them for past misrepresentation. However, I no longer feel that Wyndham is an honest corporation and want to notify as many people as possible about this unethical sales practice, in addition to the three previous times that I was misled by Wyndham and ended up with a large debt. Those were already paid off years ago.
If this is not resolved to my satisfaction, I will do whatever it takes to get out of the Wyndham Time Share ownership altogether."
