Claimant says:
"RCN distribute a promotion flyer in my coop building offering TV and internet service at about $52 something per month ( which suppose to be about $20 less than time warner to persuade customer to switch over to their company)

I switched over after talking to their sales representative and was confirmed the price will be as offered on the promotion.

about 6 months down the road i found out that i was also billed another $40 something a month on my coop maintenance bill on top of the amount i was offer ( they bill the charge to my coop board and my building management in turn added it to my monthly maintenance bill )
since i paid my bill by auto payment so i didnt notice for a while.

When I call to confront them they refuse to refund me and said that is normal!

No it is not normal, when i was using time warner service they never bill my coop board for that extra charge i was not informed !

so I told them i want to cancel even though i paid the service upto date and also the double billed amount!

Then i was informed another cancellation fee which now with interest come up to $217 and I refuse to pay them the cancellation fee!

Now they send the fee to collection agency and put on my credit report and which cause my credit score to drop more than 100 point! i got rejected for a mortgage loan simply because of RCN scam and overbilling practice!

I will like to dispute this charge and I think a class action against them should be initiated as there are many people being scammed in same way like me and i looked up the internet there are even their own employee filing complaint on them and spoke of the truth about this company's illegal business practice!

how is it possible that our government allow this kind of business practice to go on and all over USA??

I just purchased and built a website that dedicated to fighting their scam and call for all the victim to join force to file a class action lawsuit against RCN's unfair business practice and the website is RCNscam.com

  • Hi Dear RCN advisor, the claim of the cancellation fee that your company promise to removed from my credit report has not yet removed from my credit report 8 months after your company promise to take it down and emailed me and PeopleClaim the message that it is removed but it is not true and it is still showing up now on my credit report when I am trying to buy an apartment !!!

    Please kindly remove it from my credit report as your company has promised back in April this year!!
