Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"JPMorgan Chase failed to take the necessary steps to safeguard my bank account in that it allowed an online merchant (BestChoice123) who is a known predator and one who has failed to respond to multiple Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints, to debit my account to the tune of $1,300.00. Moreover, JPMorgan Chase made no attempt to mitigate risks, that is it did not halt account activities and it did not notify me of this merchant's potentially fraudulent activities. When I brought these concerns forward and asked that a 2nd debit (which was in a pending status) not be put through and this merchant blocked, JPMorgan Chase abruptly closed my account, citing a rather vague rationale for doing so. In doing so, I believe JPMorgan Chase abused its authority as well as engaged in activities that were retaliatory, prejudicial, without merit, not to mention without explanation. While it may have a right close customer accounts at will, it would appear that it cannot do so under false pretenses. Please see the enclosed attachment for details of this case."
