Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My family (self and two single young adult children) booked a guided tour with Go Ahead TOours in May 2014. This was a 12-day tour through London, Scotland, and Ireland. Verbal arrangements made with the tour company were not met during our journey. [Please see demand letter and hotel information attached].

Prior to booking this tour, I made it quite clear to them that I am an elderly with health issues. I would take this tour only if my children and I can have a family room for three in the hotels (which according to sample hotels were 3 & 4 stars), rooms must be hypoallergenic (nonsmoking, no pets, no molds, and no dust). Special meals were requested for vegan vegetarian. These requests were promised and never met. To our surprise, meals were not put in place (see demand letter}, hotel rooms were less than adequate, some undergoing construction with debris and dust visible in rooms; old hotels in isolated areas (see demand letter).

I contacted this company on my return. They reimbursed monies for the cost of the meals that were never provided. I sent and emessage to the Vice President explaining all of this with a request for compensation because my family vacation was ruined and not enjoyed [cost of tour was $12, 000. 00 plus dollars]. No response was ever received. Again, I sent a registered mail with a demand letter to the same VP for compensation of $5,000.00 for making my vacation a "tour from hell", with notice that this matter will be taken to small claims court if no response in 14 days. There is no response to date. I am sending you this request for help, perhaps in the hopes to settle this matter without having to go to court.

I am a senior, worked hard all my life [three jobs to take care of my children], never took vacations, dreamed of visiting these places while growing up in a British Colony and felt a connection with Britain. However, when finally I forced the issue of going [financially], it turned out to be the tour from hell. I am very disappointed and sad that GoAheadTours spoiled my family vacation, and chose to ignore my request for compensation.

Trusting that someone will see my point of view and the demand for compensation will be aided. Thanks."

  • All of us at Go Ahead Tours value Ms. Persaud as part of our community of travelers and genuinely appreciate the feedback she has provided. Our Assistant Manager of Customer Relations has been in regular contact with Ms. Persaud since her return from tour and it would be our pleasure to continue the dialogue.

While information regarding the Persaud family’s dietary restrictions was well noted and passed on to the restaurants we visit on tour, we understand and regret that Ms. Persaud’s family was not satisfied with the meal options offered. In response, we have already refunded Ms. Persaud $230 per person to compensate her for the value of the four meals and daily breakfast included in the tour price. We have also provided Ms. Persaud with a $200 voucher per person for future travel as a sincere gesture of goodwill.

Go Ahead’s Quality Control department is entirely dedicated to driving ongoing improvements based on what our customers have to say, and the Director of Quality Control has also reached out to Ms. Persaud to further discuss and resolve her concerns.
