Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I'm here because the BBB is just a membership service. They don't do anything.

I do have a case filed with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, theft case #HC140063261.
Back on October 12, 2013, we had our A/C unit outside replaced by AirPro. This new unit froze up so we called the company back and they sent the same guy "Paul" back on October 24th, who in turn spent a long time in my attic and finally charged me to replace some tiny part he finally dug up in my attic... it looked like a cable TV splitter. He said it was $800 but since we had just replaced our outside unit, he'd negotiate a discount... that bill finally came out to be $325. There was a shift in demeanor... he'd just spent in excess of 2 days in my attic and he had this smirk on his face as he reassured me that I was getting a real deal. A few days later the A/C unit froze over again and they sent out the guy's supervisor, who went up in the attic and cleaned the coils... he fussed a bit over the fact that this should have been checked over and taken care of to begin with... 20 minutes later he was gone. The A/C unit has been running hard ever since to cool the house, in spite of its size and alleged strength.
Something wasn't right to begin with. Back on April 30th, 2014, we experienced yet another complete freeze of our system... the unit outside had ice formed on the core, so we shut the system down and called AirPro back. They sent out another guy who poked around and gave me a quote to re-duct everything, including replacement of the vents... $10,256.00 I went into shock at first, then gave the guy a $500 check to reserve pricing, and then put in a call to my credit union to activate my line of credit that I had set up a while back. That particular service man cut the top off the coil box in the attic and
taped an air filter over it to enable more air flow so the A/C unit wouldn't freeze up in the meantime.
Nothing felt right. I would like to state at this point that I am self-employed and looking for a regular job, while my husband is disabled with fairly advanced Parkinson's disease. I'm busy and I don't have time to babysit a "professional"... I should have. I got on the phone and called a couple of other A/C repair companies on the BBB list. Aramendia quoted me $994 to open a second air return into the hallway. The next company, One Hour
A/C, gave me a quote of $825 for the same service and I actually felt better in the presence of this fellow. So I wrote the check and booked the appointment with him for the following Monday. That weekend, knowing that I needed to clear a path for the contractor, I got up into the attic and fished through the insulation to remove my personal valuables. These were primarily small boxes that I had stashed small valuables in and taped up every which way, very securely, and stashed well out of the range of any traffic. There were two larger
boxes that had been gotten into, which is probably where it started.
One I had tinsel hanging out of the side when I sealed it... and I found that the tinsel was gone. Each box had been cut open and then re-taped haphazardly, and the contents had been shuffled through, and items were missing. I went to that one special little box with the
important stuff in it... white with lots of tape... it had been invaded and re-taped... and a small stacker of 8 one-ounce gold rounds was missing, along with a 10 ounce bar of silver from that box. He had left me the stacker of 10 one-ounce gold rounds... he didn't take it all.
Looking at the voids, I found, along with the 8 ounces of gold, various types of silver bullion (from one-ounce coins in stackers to cell-phone sized 10 ounce bars and 5 ounce bars) amounting to 198 ounces gone. Total at current market value with the usual dealer premiums is about $16,108.00 I am surprised he didn't take one of the shrink-wrapped
guns that was in one box. I was beside myself in rage at being violated. I took a few days to cool down. I canceled the service appointment just in case there might be a need for an officer to get up in there. In the meantime I spoke to the General Manager of AirPro, Barry Granger, who gave me the original service guy's last nme and spelled it... DOURGAULT. I told him of the theft and that I wanted my stuff back, and that he should drag that kid in for a polygraph test since he is a liability to that company. Granger said he would not accuse one of his employees or follow up... essentially blockading me. He did come out that day and looked in my attic... trying to tell me that my whole heating system in the attic was wrong and that my coil box was too small and it was the original coil and it was dying (this coil and heating system was only installed back in January of 2007). I reiterated about the theft and his need to polygraph "Paul".
I filed the theft report with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Constable V.K. Johnson came out to write down the complaint and said that had this stuff been in a closet, she would have
told me that this was not a case. Since it was well hidden in an attic, it was indeed a theft case. Sergeant Frazee of HCSO called to follow up a few days later. Turned out there is no such person as Dourgault in any system in Texas. I gave him the general manager's name and phone number. In a later follow up with Granger, the guy's name was Pourgault instead. A little later on, there were two constables in my driveway trying to dust for fingerprints on all the tape and boxes and little plastic stackers... they didn't have any luck on site. Apparently Paul Pourgault knew enough to wear gloves as he rooted through my stuff and re-taped the boxes. That same day, a constable showed up to take the boxes back to the lab for more processing. I haven't heard back since.
That AirPro would have someone out driving around in their trucks, "servicing" their customers and not know who they are or have a copy of their drivers' license or A/C license on file is telling.

That they refuse to investigate their employees is also very telling. It could indicate an ongoing situation, perhaps even an agreement between management and their employees to actively seek ways to gouge and steal. What this boils down to is that I've paid an arm and a leg to get raped and mugged."
